About Us

Since Est. 1973

Sri Lanka Thriposha ltd

Welcome to Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited (SLTL), where our mission is the eradication of malnutrition in Sri Lanka. Established in 2010 as a state enterprise under the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007, SLTL evolved from the renowned “Thriposha Program,” which began in 1973 with the assistance of the CARE Humanitarian Organization based in the USA.
The Thriposha Program was initiated with a clear and noble objective: to combat malnutrition across Sri Lanka. Initially, additional food supplements were imported from the USA and packaged locally before being distributed to the targeted beneficiaries. From its inception, Thriposha has been composed of essential ingredients: maize, soya, and milk powder.
In 1976, the Ministry of Health extended its support to the program, ensuring its sustained growth and outreach. The management of the program was awarded to Ceylon Tobacco Company (CTC) through a tender process, marking a significant collaboration in the fight against malnutrition.
In 2010, the Thriposha Program was transformed into a fully government-owned entity, now known as Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited (SLTL). This transition placed SLTL under the direct purview of the Ministry of Health, reinforcing our commitment to public health and nutrition.
With the enhancement of our production capabilities following the replacement of our extruder in 2016, SLTL was able to launch a new commercial product, “Suposha,” in 2017. This product marked a significant milestone, showcasing our ability to innovate and expand our offerings.
Continuing our journey of innovation, in 2023, SLTL proudly introduced another commercial product, the “Calorie Bar.” This addition reflects our ongoing efforts to utilize our capacity for the benefit of a broader market while staying true to our mission of improving nutrition.
At SLTL, we are dedicated to improving the nutritional status of our nation. Our journey from importing and packaging supplements to becoming a fully-fledged state enterprise producing and launching commercial products highlights our unwavering commitment to health and nutrition. We continue to strive towards our goal of eradicating malnutrition in Sri Lanka, ensuring a healthier future for all.

Message From Sri Lanka President

President Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

Image Description

My earnest blessings and congratulations goes to the Thriposha Ltd’s success in achieving a production excess upon adopting and installing new machinery under the direct guidance and patronage of the Ministry of Health. Thriposha’s success and the new product and the launch of the new website are truly deserving of this message of felicitation and encouragement as the company’s entire industrial production is benefiting the corn and the soya cultivators and the local farming community and the agricultural sector’s growth. It is indeed a pleasure to note that Thriposha’s production has achieved the level of an excess that it is now more than what is needed for the expectant mothers and the infants less than five years old who were the free beneficiary recipients of the Thriposha’s Government supported program for years. It is also significant to note now that Thriposha Ltd being a state-owned enterprise has achieved the status of helping the government to generate an extra revenue source. Over the years Thriposha Program has helped Sri Lanka to transform our nation into a nutritious nation and to eradicate the prevalence of Anaemia Among Children and Women in Sri Lanka. Compared to the regional Asian countries, Thriposha program helped the people of Sri Lanka to overcome the problem of Anaemia for years, mostly due to nutritional deficiency of iron. My appreciation also goes to all employees of Thriposha Ltd’s who took their humble and enormous efforts to bring this excess production levels of the company.
